Thanks to Facebook’s Open Graph, Viddy and SocialCam are the top two free apps in the App Store. I spent some time testing them out this weekend. Like Instagram, they definitely make your content look better than it would without the filters. UI/UX are very smooth, especially for video streaming apps. In the picture above and video below, you’ll see that I ran into NYC’s dance parade, and posted directly from the Viddy app to Tumblr.

Thrilled to hear that Netflix will simultaneously release the 10 new episodes of the cult hit it now owns, Arrested Development. Everything about this feels right - feels fresh - and the Netflix original content strategy is starting to make a lot of sense.
To start, many consider Arrested Development to be the greatest comedy series of all time. The show’s obsessive community regularly mourns its network cancellation. By merely bringing the series back to life, the fans and Netflix are winning. It’s like when Nike re-released the Air Max 95 after years of sneaker heads yearning for ‘em. What’s a better business strategy than giving people what they really want?
There’s isn’t one. And that’s why there’s something bigger at play here: the way Netflix is releasing the 10 new episodes. Everyone knows that binge watching a great TV series is the best way to consume it. Making this possible for viewers from day one could turn it into a pretty big event. I can see fans of Michael Cera and the Banana Stand getting together to watch the entire season in one day — and surely this will be live tweeted, creating a big social buzz.
Because Netflix is using a new business model to distribute TV shows - no advertisers, no time slots - they do not have to stagger the release of episodes over several months. As a result, in the case of Arrested Development, Netflix can offer the best viewing experience: what you want, when you want it.
